The National Palace Museum in Taiwan has unveiled the 24K “Golden Kannon Card” in collaboration with Nansi Wanfo Temple to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Inspired by Ming dynasty scriptures, this limited-edition commemorative piece combines the elegance of traditional Japanese lacquerware with modern printing techniques, expressing a sense of solemnity and refined beauty. More than just a commemorative item, the card holds significant cultural and collector’s value.

For this project, our company’s Miyagi Prefecture–designated traditional craft, **Tamamushi Lacquerware**, was selected for the lacquerwork. The card was created as a truly special piece: a Tamamushi lacquer panel delicately decorated with a gold maki-e depiction of Kannon (Guanyin), framed and presented with a brocade cloth and paulownia box.

We are deeply honored that this commemorative work—highlighted by Taiwanese media outlets such as @TVBS News—serves as a symbol of friendship and cultural exchange between Taiwan and Japan.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to @Sanghalin Cultural Publishing, Artistic Director Ms. Mineko Shimizu, and all those who contributed to making this project possible.

At Tohoku Kogei, we remain committed to our founding philosophy of “From Viewing Craft to Using Craft.” By cherishing the traditions of Tohoku while embracing innovation, we will continue to share the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship with the world and contribute to cultural exchange across borders.
